The Republican, September 23, 1886

Obituary.

One of Coldwater's best carpenters and affable citizens, H. C. Rood last Sunday quietly passed from time to eternity. Mr. Rood come here over two years ago and has continuously and earnestly worked at his trade. We presume he has done more carpenter work in Coldwater than any other man. He was an untiring worker, always doing what ever he undertook to do with all his might. He leaves a wife and one child to mourn his death, but they are not alone in their sad hour of bereavement, but have the sympathy of the entire community.

The Western Star, September 25, 1886.

HOWARD C. ROOD DEAD

Died, in this city, Sunday, September 19th, 1886, Howard C. Rood. Mr. Rood was well known here, having been one of our earliest settlers. He was a contractor and builder by trade, which vocation he followed successfully in this city and built many of its most substantial edifices. He was married on July 5th last year, to Miss Carrie B. Pierson, of Champaign, Illinois, and leaves a wife and child to mourn his untimely death. How short is life? Before we have realized our highest hopes and ambitions, we are met by the Grim Destroyer.
