Mrs. Lucinda Ross, aged 87 years, 5 months and 21 days, died at 4:30 a.m. on last Monday, May 12, 1924, at the home of her son, Sam Ross, in this city, after an illness extending through several months. Her health had been in a failing condition for over a year, and for nine months she had been confined to her bed. Her advanced age and the consequent weakened condition of her body hastened the end, which came peacefully and as though she were passing into a sleep. She had borne her suffering with a wonderful degree of patience and Christian fortitude.Throughout all her life she had shown an undying faith in Christ as her Savior and had followed His teachings. She was thus prepared to pass on to her eternal reward.
Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church on Tuesday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. A. C. Ramsey, the Presbyterian pastor in Ashland. The services were attended by a large number of neighbors, who joined in expression of love and esteem for their departed friend. Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery.

On June 28, 1867, she was united in marriage with James Milton Ross, who preceded her in death on April 22, 1904. To this union six children, three sons and three daughters, were born, all of whom, except one son, survive. Four of the children, Sam Ross, Sarah Osman, Ida May Finney and Mrs. Mattie Nokes, are residents of Coldwater. One son, Thos. W. Ross, lives in Conway, Mo. All were present at the funeral except Thomas.

Her failing health had for some time, made it impossible for her to mingle much with her friends, but to all who came into her presence she radiated sunshine and cheer. Not only the surviving relatives, but many friends as well, will long retain precious memories of her and her countless ministrations of love for those about her.
