Mrs. Rosa Ruthven died on last Monday, May 1, 1922, at the home of her brother, Wesley Mathias, about 12 miles northwest of this city, and was buried in the Coldwater cemetery on Wednesday afternoon, following funeral services at the Presbyterian church. The pastor, Rev. A. Frank Johnson, had charge of the services at the church.

Deceased was born in LaSalle-co., Ill., on March 10, 1853, and at the time of her death was 69 years, 1 month and 21 days of age. Her husband, William Ruthven, preceded her in death six years ago. Her home before coming to Comanche-co. a few years ago had been in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She made her home with her nephews, the Proctor brothers. Last November, however, she went to St. John and spent the winter there with a sister, Mrs. Huffman. About four weeks ago she returned to this county and was staying at the Mathias home. About three years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis, from which she never fully recovered. Other complications set in shortly before her death, and these led to her passing, as stated, on Monday.

Mrs. Ruthven had been a member of the Presbyterian church for a number of years, and through all her afflictions found great comfort in the promises and presence in her life of her Heavenly Father. She leaves to mourn her death three sisters - Mrs. Celia Huffman, Mrs. Sadie Jones and Mrs. Lettie Jordan; also three brothers - Edward Roux, and John and Wesley Mathias. One sister preceded her in death about seven years ago.
