Services Held for Grover C. Sanders

Grover C. Sanders, 88, died Wednesday, April 12, 1972, at Coldwater, Kans.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 on Saturday, April 15, 1972, at the Baptist church in Protection with Rev. Charles Priddy in charge. Burial was in the Protection cemetery.

Obituary

Grover Cleveland Sanders of Protection, Kans., passed away on April 12, 1972 at the Pioneer Lodge at Coldwater, Kans. He was 88 years of age.

Mr. Sanders, the beloved son of James E. and Louisa Sanders, was born July 18, 1883 at Boonville, Ind. He had six brothers and a sister, all of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death in 1911 by his first wife and a baby son.

On April 23, 1913 he married Rebie Pearl Wilborn at Charlestown, Ind. After three years in Coats, Kans., they moved to Protection in 1917 and lived on the farm south of Protection until 1947 when they moved into town. Grover lived there until illness forced him to be in the hospital or rest home.

Mr. Sanders had a varied business life including fruit farming, dairying, coal mining, and retired as a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the First Baptist of Protection, Kans.

Mrs. Rebie Sanders died in September, 1963. In addition to a host of relatives and friends he is survived by a daughter ands six sons: Mrs. Elmer (Mary) Schultz, Robert and Ralph Sanders, all of Protection; Nelson of San Diego, Calif.; Grover E., Wichita, Roger, Cleveland, Ohio, Raymond of Las Cruses, N. M., 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
