Mrs. Ben Schmoker Dies; Was Early Day Resident

Mrs. Ben E. Schmoker, former Protection resident, passed away in an Oklahoma City hospital last Saturday morning. Funeral services were held in the Garrison Mortuary chapel Monday. J. H. Lynch of the Protection Christian Church had charge of the rites.

Obituary

Hallie Clide Clinesmith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Clinesmith was born in Wilson County, Kansas, July 19, 1890. At an early age she, with her parents, moved to their new home two and one half miles west of Wakita, Oklahoma, in Grant County, at the opening of the Cherokee Strip. There she spent her childhood days.

On the 8th of May, 1910 she was united in marriage to Ben E. Schmoker at Wakita, Oklahoma. To this union was born two daughters, Mildred S. Schmoker (Mrs. Walter B. Broadie) and Lavona S. Schmoker (Mrs. Lee A Evans). After three years at Wakita, she moved with her family to Protection, Kansas, and with the exception of a few years, lived there until 1932, at which time she moved to Enid, Oklahoma, where she lived for about four years. She then moved to Oklahoma City, where she made her home until the time of her passing away.

Hallie had been very active in civic, social and church activities and at the time of her passing was a member of the Putnam Christian Church, Chapter DD, P. E. O., in Oklahoma City and was 1st Vice President of the West Side Lioness Club of Oklahoma City. Her life's ambition was to do something for others and make someone happy.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Ben E. Schmoker of the home address in Oklahoma City; two daughters Mrs. Lee A. Evans of Norman, Okla., and Mrs. Walter Broadie of Ashland, Kansas; a grandson, Gary Lee Evans of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mrs. W. E. Tobias, Mrs. L. L. Lawless and Mrs. Alta B. Scott, all of Enid, Oklahoma; one brother, Wesley Clinesmith of Nevada. Also, numerous nephews and nieces, together with un-numbered friends.

Mrs. Schmoker was preceded in death by her mother, father, two sisters, and one brother.
