Albert LeRoy Scott, son of Daniel B. and Tobitha Jane Scott, was born in Dade County, Missouri, December 5, 1874, and passed away Sunday afternoon, November 23, 1958, at his home in San Bernardino, Calif., at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 18 days. He had been in poor health for two years and critically ill for the past five months.Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 26, at the Grove Colonial Mortuary with Rev. James W. Lowman officiating. A quartet of granddaughters, Mabel Jean Martin, Laurie Lowman, Lucille McAllister, and Lynn Franklin, accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Alice Rearick sang, "Rock of Ages" and "Beyond the Sunset."
Pallbearers were James W. Lowman Jr., Albert L. Lowman, William A. Crawford, Peter V. Martin, Leslie R. Dyer Jr., and Clyde C. Scott. Interment was in the Mountain View cemetery in San Bernardino.
Mr. Scott was united in marriage with Miss Lummie McLemore near South Greenfield, Mo., on September 7, 1898. To this union four children were born. One son, Cecil, died in infancy.
Surviving are his wife, Lummie, one son, Albert Claude; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Lowman and Mrs. Irene Crawford, all of San Bernardino; one brother,. C. C. Scott of El Monte, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Inscho of Independence, Kans.; nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
Mr. Scott had lived in Kansas most of his life. He was united with the Christian church in Augusta, Kans., in 1919. He moved to Chautauqua county, Kansas in 1902, and to Comanche county in 1925, where he was actively engaged in ranching, stock raising and farming until shortly before moving to California in 1956.
