Claude Simkins Killed In a Tractor Accident

Claude Simkins, well known Comanche county farmer who lived a mile and a half northeast of Protection, was killed instantly on Tuesday of this week while helping fill a trench silo at his farm.

Reports indicate that he was driving his tractor, looking backward when the tractor struck the end of the silo, upset and pinned Claude underneath it.

It was necessary to get a derrick to lift the tractor off its driver. His son, Merle Simkins, was with him at the time of the accident.

Mr. Simkins was past 70 years of age.

Mr. Simkins is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Condra Jr., of Protection and Mrs. Bruce Thomas of Wichita; a son, Merle, of the home and one brother, Reed Simkins.

Claude Simkins is buried in the Protection Cemetery.
