Alfred Eugene Smith

Alfred Eugene Smith, age 67, died Thursday, March 16, 2006 at Parkview Hospital, El Reno, Oklahoma.

He was born December 5, 1938 at Fryatt, AR, the son of Randle Harvey and Hester (Loveall) Smith. He was a welder and a lumberjack.

In 1965 he married Mary Stover. She died May 9, 1978.

He was a member of the Kawana Indian Tribe.

He is survived by a son, David Smith, LaHarpe, Kansas; 4 daughters, Penny Jackson, El Reno, Oklahoma, Lori Carey, Iola, Kansas, Angie Slattery, Lansing, Kansas and Lisa Porter, Tonganoxie, Kansas; a brother Otis Smith, Moran, Kansas; 14 grandchildren; and his two dogs Misty Dawn and Brandy.

Alfred enjoyed playing his guitar, woodworking, fishing, playing horseshoes, and drawing. He was a joker, collected Indians, and worked on lawn mowers. He was loved and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Everett, Leroy and David, and an infant sister Mable Smith.

Graveside service was on Friday, March 24 at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater.

Memorials may be sent to the Alfred Smith Memorial Fund in care of Larrison Funeral Home, Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
