Leslie Smith Retires As Coldwater City Clerk

June 7, 1957 Last month Leslie Smith, after 18 years as City Clerk of Coldwater, tendered his resignation to the city governing body, which resignation was regretfully accepted.

Leslie has given painstaking and faithful service not only in the position but as County Clerk of Comanche county for four years and as a deputy in various offices for 12 years or more, as well as secretary of the Coldwater Masonic lodge for a number of years. He has also been an elder in the Christian church in Coldwater for many years. Leslie has a record of community service of which any man may be proud.

Mr. Smith is retiring to his farm on Mule Creek southeast of Wilmore, where he has built a new home and will "take it easy." He has well deserved a long rest.

He has been succeeded as City Clerk by John Paul of this city, who has been appointed to the position.
