The Western Star, April 23, 1902.

DEATH OF MRS. J. R. STAFFORD

Every early day resident of Coldwater will recall Grandma (Mrs. J. R.) Stafford and her children, Roy, Irvin and Mrs. W. M. Cash, who made this city their home during most of the 90s and latter 80s. Mrs. Stafford was one of the kindliest of women and all who knew her were her devoted friends. The Daily Oklahoman, published in Oklahoma City, Okla., of last Saturday contained the following account of Mrs. Stafford's death, which occurred in that city on last Friday:

Mrs. E. E. Stafford, 75 years old, died at her residence, 422 East Eighth street, at 12:15 o'clock yesterday, following a brief illness. Funeral arrangements have not been completed as yet.

Mrs. Stafford was born January 1, 1845, at Sandusky, Ohio. She was the wife of John R. Stafford, who died several years ago.

In the early days Mr. and Mrs. Stafford moved to Coldwater, Kans., where they were numbered among the first pioneers. Following Mr. Stafford's death, Mrs. Stafford moved to Marshall, Okla., in the old "Cherokee strip" where she resided until 1901, when she moved to this city.

Mrs. Stafford is survived by two sons, Roy E. and Irvin H. Stafford, both of this city, Edna Cash, Mrs. B. A. Fairman and Leon E. Maxey, grandchildren, also residents of this city, and another grandson, Allen J. Cash of Fort Worth, Texas.

It is expected funeral services will be held from the Harrison Avenue Congregational church of which Mrs. Stafford was a member, some time Sunday afternoon.
