Mrs. Gust Sundgren passed away at her home several miles west of Wilmore last Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 18th at the age of 66 years. While she had not been in good health for a number of years, she was seriously ill only a few days.Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in the Methodist church at Coldwater.
Several years ago the Sundgren family lived in the nearby vicinity of Wilmore, the children attending school here. Many from Wilmore attended the funeral services of their friend and neighbor.
Obituary Nannie Lundquist Sundgren
Nannie Lundquist was born at Fremont, Kansas, November 6, 1873. She departed this life at her home northwest of Coldwater on Wednesday, October 18, 1939, at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 12 days. Her parents were among the first settlers in McPherson county, and she shared with them the early hardships which were necessary to pioneer life in this territory.
She was confirmed in the Fremont Lutheran church when 15 years of age. Twelve years ago she transferred her church membership to the Wilmore Methodist church and remained faithful to her Christ until her death. The family lived in McPherson county until 1915, and in Clark co. until 1927, when they moved to Comanche county, where they have since continued to reside. For 15 years she patiently endured much suffering and pain. Throughout this time she derived much pleasure from the fellowship of friends and neighbors.
On March 12, 1891, she was united in marriage with Gust Sundgren, who preceded her in death, but six years. Thirteen children were born to this union as follows: Mrs. Vade Myers, Windom, Kans., Mrs. D. S. Riner of California; Mrs. Edna Seacat, Canon City, Colo.; Edwin Sundgren of Canada; Ruben Sundgren of Goldroad, Ariz.; Mrs. Fred Kumberg of Sitka, Kans.; Martin Sundgren of Utica, N. Y.; Mrs. Walter Cook of Rosston, Okla.; Paul Sundgren of Coldwater; Mrs. Everett Currier of Deer Creek, Okla.; and Rosalee, George and Florence of the home. She leaves three sisters, three brothers, 13 children, 19 grandchildren and many relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Hadley, and Marvin Plank sang, and Rev. H. E. Mickelson of the Prairie Vale Friends church preached. Rev. W. F. Callahan of the Methodist church in Coldwater assisted in the service.
