An event long to be remembered in Coldwater was the building of the gospel tabernacle on last Tuesday. In accordance with the announcement previously made, the work was practically all done without expense to the committee. Nearly 50 men reported for work early Tuesday morning. There were men with teams to do the building, also there were men with saws and hammers, and every man there seemed to be a willing, cheerful helper. It was as a great workshop a perfect beehive of industry. By 5:30 p.m. the building was practically completed. On Wednesday the seating and other finishing work was completed. The tabernacle is 60 x 80 feet in size, is substantially built and well arranged. It is located in the street immediately east of the Holmes-Ferrin store. It is estimated that the building will easily and comfortably seat 800 people. The weather on Tuesday and Wednesday was ideal for the construction of the tabernacle. The splendid record made in its construction is another illustration of the advantages of unity of effort and is evidenced of the presence among the people of our city of a spirit in total co-operation and Christian unity in the forthcoming evangelistic campaign.
The ladies of the different churches of the city deserve credit for their faithful work in serving dinner to the laborers on Tuesday. The basement of the Presbyterian church was used for that purpose.
