Mrs. Alice Thompson died at the home of her sons, Earle and Harold Thompson, in Coldwater last Friday afternoon after an illness of only a week, having suffered an attack of intestinal flu.Funeral services were held in the Hulpleu-Swain funeral chapel in Dodge City Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. and were in charge of C. H. Barhydt of the Christian Science church. Burial was in Maple Hill cemetery in Dodge City by the side of a daughter, Nettie Alice Thompson, who died last January.
The pall bearers were D. P. Young, S. R. Sprecker, Frank A. Baird, Wm. D. Janousek, H. E. Ripple and M. D. Ames, all of Dodge City.
Obituary Alice George Thompson was born in Mattoon, Ill., November 9, 1859, and passed away in Coldwater, Kansas, May 16, 1947, at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 7 days.
She came to Kansas with her parents, settling at Offerle, Kansas. On December 25, 1879, she was united in marriage with Hammond L. Thompson in Offerle. To this union were born four daughters and two sons. A daughter, Olive, passed away in 1942 and another daughter, Nettie Alice, died in Dodge City, January 27, 1947. Her husband preceded her in death September 22, 1897.
The surviving children are: Earle and Harold Thompson of Coldwater, Mrs. Edith J. Snare of Fort Dodge, Kans., and Mrs. Anna Powell of Amarillo, Texas.
Mrs. Thompson moved to Coldwater in 1921 to make her home with her son, Earle, and continued to make this city her home. She was a kindly, genteel and talented woman and was a loving mother and wife. She was a faithful member of the Christian Science Church.
