Flossie Melissa Trummel, 82, died March 10, 2000, at Life Care Center in Overland Park.She was born March 22, 1917, at Wilmore, to Felix M. McMillen and Martha (Rapp) Hopkins McMillen. She attended Ridge Summit Country School and Wilmore High School.
A lifetime Comanche County resident, living in Overland Park for the last year, she was a homemaker, a cook at Coldwater High School and worked at Pioneer Lodge Nursing Home in Coldwater.
She belonged to South Central Southern Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, volunteered for the American Cancer Society and American Red Cross and was a member of the Golden Age Club and two Bible study groups, all at Coldwater.
On Aug. 27, 1937, she married Kenneth Franklin Trummel at Sawyer. He died June 1, 1987.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Martin McMillen and four sisters, Louisa Kennedy, Mary Gill, Clarice Fry, and Alice Atteberry.
Survivors include: two sons, Max and his wife, Lynn of Cabot, Ark., and Larry and his wife Cheryl of Halstead; daughter Patricia White and her husband Ronald of Overland Park; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral was March 14, 2000, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, with Pastor Wayne Davis presiding. Burial was in Wilmore Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association or the Prairie Plaza Nutrition Center, both in care of the funeral home.
