Frank Webb Services Held At Arkansas City

Arkansas City, Kans. Services for Frank A. Webb, 77, who dies Sunday, September 11, 1966, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 1966 at Jess Rindt & Son Memorial Chapel.

A native of Protection, Kans., he began work with the Santa Fe Railway there in 1917 as an engineer. In 1922, he became advertising manager for the Home National Bank here. Later he and his brother, Paul, established the National Lighting Co., a manufacturing firm, which they operated for many years.

For more than 50 years, he and his brother were nationally recognized as old-time banjo artists on the five-string instruments. With the advent of radio and television, they discovered that old-time banjo numbers were disappearing and they made complete tape recordings of numbers over a span of more than 40 years and gave copies to the Wichita Public Library and the Arkansas City Public Library.

Webb was a member of First Baptist church.

Survivors include his widow, Esther; a son, Frank R., Wichita; two brothers, John J., and Fred E., both of Protection.

Mr. Webb was a graduate of Coldwater High School, class of 1910.
