The sad news reached this city on Wednesday of last week of the death of Ray G. Wenholz on that day in Hutchinson. Mr. Wenholz had visited in Coldwater and was known to a few of our people. On the 26th of last December he was united in marriage with Miss Pearl Craig, daughter of Mrs. T. W. Osman of this city. They made their home in Hutchinson, but Mrs. Wenholz continued her school work near Hardy, Okla. The circumstances of Mr. Wenholz's death are indeed sad, and the bereaved wife and other relatives have the sincere sympathy of all in their hour of deep affliction.Raymond G. Wenholz was born in Glenco, Minn., on April 27, 1896. Most of his life was spent in Chicago until he entered the U. S. service in the World War in which he was engaged 18 months. He came to Hutchinson in 1919. He met his death while working for his father, a contractor, in building a derrick to be used in lifting cement in the construction of an elevator in Hutchinson. His father, while on his way to Chicago, wrote to his son to discontinue the work on the derrick until he returned, but the young man fell before he received the letter. He was an experienced workman in that line of business, which is dangerous work. He took the risk and proved the assertion that it is but a step between life and death. His friends and neighbors speak highly of his industry, manliness and business ability and they mourn the loss of a true friend. He was confirmed in the American Lutheran Church of Chicago when 13 years of age. At the time of his death he was 23 years, 9 months and 22 days old. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, father and mother, two sisters and their families, and one brother and family. The funeral services were held at his late home in Hutchinson at 4 o'clock on Monday afternoon, February 23, conducted by Rev. A. G. Alexander of this city. A large number of relatives and friends attended the services and followed the remains to the cemetery. A young lady of Hutchinson sang two beautiful solos at the services and the gifts of flowers sent by sorrowing friends showing their sympathy in the sad affliction and were helpful and appreciated by the mourning relatives.
