The Western Star, January 30, 1925.

DEATH OF E. WHITE

Ezekial White, father of John and Neal White of this county, died at 8:30 p.m. on last Saturday, January 24, in the Frisco hospital in St. Louis, where he had been for some time. Burial was made on Monday of this week by the side of his wife in the Columbus, Kansas cemetery, the family having lived near that city for several years.

Mr. White moved to this county in 1887 from Iowa and settled southeast of this city, first on the quarter where Harry Heide now lives, and later on the quarter on which the Bethel school house is located. The family lived in this county until 1890 when they moved to Wilson-co., Kansas, and later to near Springfield, Mo., and there Mr. and Mrs. White continued to make their home. For a number of years Mr. White was an employee of the Frisco railway. While working for the company he sustained quite a severe injury, but, after recovering, continued in the employ of the company for a number of years. For a while he was agent at Wishart, Mo., and later a flagman in Springfield. His health began to fail several years ago.

Mr. White was a man of generous impulses and unimpeachable character. Wherever he was know he was respected and trusted. During the past few years Mr. White visited here and made his home with his sons, John and Neal White, who are well known here. Deceased is survived by one other son, Walter White, of Little Rock, Ark., and by two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Garner, of Springfield, Mo., and Mrs. Chas. Crocker of Chetopa, Kans., also by one brother, Taylor White, of Neodesha, Kans. Mrs. E. White, whose death occurred nearly five years ago, was a sister of Mrs. E. A. Burnette of this county. Mr. White lacked but two months of being 72 years of age at the time of his death.
