Arthur Doane Wilmore, 86, of Great Bend, died Oct. 2, 1999, at the home of his son in Eagle, Colo.Wilmore was born Jan. 8, 1913, at Del Norte, Colo., to Arthur T. Wilmore and Mary Ray Wilmore. Wilmore, Kansas, was named after his grandfather, Thomas Wilmore.
He attended Wilmore Schools, and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1932.
A veteran of World War II, Wilmore served in the U.S. Army. He retired from C.O. Mammels Food Stores, and then worked 17 years at the Barton County Courthouse doing janitorial services.
He married Betty Kazee Good in 1960. She died Jan. 18, 1997.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Willis Wilmore, and one sister, Doris Hauser.
Survivors include: one son, Dean Wilmore of Eagle, Colo.; two stepsons, Bill Good of Geary, Okla., and Terry Good of Austin, Tex.; three stepdaughters, Helen Hinsley of Waxahachie, Tex., Donna Early of Parrish, Ala., and Rosie Anderson of Dallas, Tex.; one sister, Frances Miller of Calimesa, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999, at Wilmore Federated Church, with Rev. Lent Little presiding. Burial will follow at the Wilmore cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Hatfield-Prusa Home in Coldwater.
Memorials may be sent to Wilmore Federated Church or Wilmore Community Center in care of the funeral home.
