ROBERT EDWIN WOOD

March 18, 1927 - August 13, 2005

Robert "Bob" Wood was the eldest of seven children born to Samuel Basil and Gladys (Rose) Wood. He was born on the family homestead in southern Kiowa County. The family eventually moved to Wilmore, Kansas.

After serving in the US Army for 2 years, Bob graduated as a civil engineer from Kansas State University in 1952. Throughout his career, he worked on several projects in which he took great pride. Among those projects are the Alaskan Pipeline as well construction in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Bob met Martha Charlene Jackson of Coldwater, Kansas, in 1950. They wed on July 18, 1953 and were married 49 years before Charlene passed away in 2002. Bob and Charlene also raised two sons, Mark and Mitch, who now reside in Western Washington state.

Tucson, Arizona was Bob's home for the last 25 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene, his parents Samuel and Gladys, and his brother George.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Robert (wife Danielle) and Mitchell Jackson (wife Barbara) and two granddaughters: Madeline and Alison Wood.

He also leaves behind five brothers and sisters: Forrest (wife Phyllis), Shirley Kaiser (husband Roger), Roseanne Reneau, Richard (Doug) (wife Lupe), Patricia Lukins (husband Roger).

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the American Cancer Society at PO Box 102454 Atlanta GA 30368-2454.

Bob was proud of his Kansas heritage and remained involved in the community.
