The only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Bard died Wednesday at 1 o'clock at their home in the south part of town, after an illness of only two weeks.

This was Glen's first year in school and he made a host of little friends as well as older ones who were grieved to learn of his death. The grief stricken parents have the sympathy of the entire town and community in this hour of bereavement. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

According to his obituary in The Protection Post, May 2, 1918, he died on the Wednesday before May 2, 1918. His obituary also referred to him as "Wayne". He is buried in the Protection Cemetery.
