The Protection Post, April 12, 1917.

OBITUARY

Francis Laverne Bearly, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bearly was born in Comanche county, Kansas, September 22, 1914, departed this life at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 1917, aged 2 years, 6 months and 16 days. Death resulted from complications arising from a wound caused by an accident. The funeral conducted by Rev. Martin of the Christian Church of Buffalo, Oklahoma was held from the home Monday, April 19th and the little body was laid to rest in the Protection cemetery.

Lower Bluff Creek

The neighbors and friends of the Bearly's showed their sympathy and respect by a large number of them attending the funeral of little Francis Bearly on Monday the 9th. Mr. Bearly's parents and Mrs. Bearly's mother and two sisters and an uncle and a number of cousins were present.

In Memory

"A new mound rose on a Kansas hill,
And a Dear One was laid underneath,
But friends were good for they strewed it
With blossom and clinging wreath.

Now a voice comes borne on the stillness,
Though the way seems hard 'tis true,
Just live thy life for the living,
As the little one lived for you."

Rev. Martin, formerly of Protection but now of Buffalo, Okla., conducted the funeral services for little Francis Bearly, and the writer thinks his talk was about the best ever given on such an occasion. The singing by the choir with Miss Davis at the piano was both good and appropriate.

Note: the above obituary spelled Bearly as "Bearley"; Comanche County History uses the spelling "Bearly".
