Death Comes to Jesse J. Edmonston

Jesse John Edmonston, 54, Protection, died Sunday evening, June 2, 1968, at the Ashland Hospital after a short illness.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Protection, Kans., on Wednesday, June 5, 1968, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Fred Gresham officiating. Mrs. Doris Leeper and Charles Petty sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Sometime We Will Understand," accompanied by Mrs. Daisy Maris, organist.

Pallbearers were Walter Tschanz, Walter Christopher, Robert Sanders, Mal "Bill" Eubank, Bill Schultz and Ronald Newton. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Walker, Eli Harbaugh, Art Windus, Dwight McGee, Claude Rowland, Ralph Watson, Emery Newton and David Leeper.

Protection Lodge A. F. & A. M. No. 384, were in charge of the Masonic services. Interment was in Protection cemetery, Protection, Kans.

Obituary

Jesse John Edmonston was born February 9, 1884 at Holden, Mo. He married Olive Susan Sanders, September 21, 1904, at Peabody. He had moved to Protection in 1900 and was part owner and operator of the Edmonston and Sons Chevrolet Agency there.

He was a member of the Protection Christian church, Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, and Wichita Consistory.

He is survived by the widow; daughters, Mrs. Clifford Spangler, Peabody; Mrs. Marie Williams, Ashland; sons, Atlee and Milo, both of Protection; sister, Mrs. Grace Lawrence, Wichita; nine grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
