Obituary.

William Robert Hackney, known as Bill, son of Richard A. and Alice B. Hackney, was born in Wakefield, Kans., on February 12, 1895 and moved to a land claim in Woods county, Oklahoma in 1902. He moved to a farm south of Coldwater in 1910.

On October 24, 1915 Bill was united in marriage with Ollie Deewall. They lived on the farm south of Coldwater until 1919 when they moved to the New Eden community. To this union were born three children: Audra, Norine and Robert. They moved to Coldwater in 1952 where they lived until his death April 1, 1978 at age 83.

He always had a smile and a kind word for all. He was a good neighbor and enjoyed his family most. He especially loved all his grandchildren. He took pride in breaking work horses for surrounding ranchers in his early days.

In his passing he leaves to mourn his widow, Ollie: Audra Pepperd, Ralph and Norine Williams, Robert and Helen Hackney, 13 grandchildren and families which include 18 great grandchildren, also a sister, Rose Jantzen, and her husband, Theo, Coldwater, Kans., and a brother, Jack, and his wife, Viola, Wichita, Kans., and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Dick, T. R. and Sam, and a sister, Lizzie Adams.

One from us is gone.
A voice we loved is stilled.
A Place is vacant in our homes
Which can never be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled,
Yet again we hope to meet thee
When the days of life have fled.
