Obituary At the time of Mr. Janson's death on August 4 he was 82 years, 9 months and 15 days of age. He became critical last January and had been in the county hospital since that time.
Mr. Janson was one of the early day citizens of Comanche county, coming by covered wagon with his parents, the late John and Sarah Janson, from New York City, where he was born October 20, 1875. He was seven years old when the long trip was made and could tell of many interesting experiences of early day life.
Mr. Janson grew to manhood near Coldwater, where his parents settled. His main occupation was farming but was a great sports fan and took part in many baseball games which played throughout Comanche county and surrounding counties in the early days.
In 1913 Mr. Janson was united in marriage with Miss Helen Unruh in Coldwater. To this union were born seven children: Richard Janson of Greensburg, Mrs. Irene Wedel of Wilmore, Howard Janson of Sun City, Irvin R. Janson of Wilmore, Denver L. Janson of Leavenworth, Wash., David R. Janson of Moses Lake, Wash., and Mrs. Martha Theobald of Yakima, Wash.
Mr. Janson moved with his family to Greensburg, Kans., in 1919 and in 1924 he was converted and joined the Christian church in that city. He continued as a faithful member of that faith.
In 1940 he moved back to Wilmore, where he made his home with his daughter, Irene Wedel, and from time to time, with his sons living near.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Helen; his children, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also two brothers, Fred of Liberal and Claude of Cozad, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. Dollie White of Tacoma, Wash., and Mrs. Mae Helbert of Wichita, Kans., besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
John Janson, father of William Janson.
John Janson, Junior, brother of William Janson.
