Friends and relatives were saddened when they learned of the death of Mrs. O. H. McCorkle.Mrs. McCorkle had been in poor health since last May. During these few months of suffering she bore it without complaint with only one hope, to be able to get better. But at the end knowing that impossible, she was willing to go.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with Rev. W. J. Thomas in charge. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Harriet Richardson, Mrs. Vic Holman, Marvin Belcher and Roderick Baker, sang "Good Night Here But Good Morning Up There," "In the Garden" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?"
The pall bearers were Lester Larimer, H. J. Pendergraft, Marvin Downing, Ord Trummel, Ernest Hubbard, and Warren Day.
Burial was in the Wilmore cemetery.
OBITUARY Blanche Elizabeth Killillay, daughter of William and Viola Killillay, was born in Galesburg, Ill., July 11, 1886, and passed quietly away September 3, 1948 at 3:30 p.m. at her home in Wilmore.
When a young girl she moved to Pleasanton, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ora H. McCorkle on July 11, 1907, and immediately moved to Wilmore, Kansas, where she resided until her demise.
She leaves to mourn her loss; her husband, 3 sons, Ivan E. McCorkle of Compton, Calif., Chief Petty Officer Richard McCorkle of Washington D. C., and Master Sergeant Robert McCorkle of Tucson, Arizona, 4 daughters, Mrs. U. E. Hennigh of Englewood, Kans., Mrs. John Kittell of Coldwater, Kans., Mrs. Billie Morris of Aetna, Kans., and Mrs. Gerald Teter of Protection, Kans., 4 brothers, E. C. Killillay of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Fred Killillay of Pleasanton, Ia., Lawrence Graves of Pleasanton, Ia., and Ray Graves of Leon, Ia.; and 21 grandchildren. 1 son, Ancil, and 3 sisters, preceded her in death.
On May 2, 1926 she united herself in fellowship with the Wilmore Methodist Church, and was a member until her death. With frugality born of necessity, this uncomplaining mother bore her physical ailment with the fortitude and patience displayed only by one who knew and felt that the sustaining hand of her Lord and Master was under girding her through her physical trails. Her sweet and gracious disposition was an encouragement to all who had the pleasure of visiting her during her illness. Her optimism and cherry smile will live long in our memory. She bore her illness with a distinct Christian patience.
"Jesus while our hearts are bleeding
O'er the spoils that death has won
We would at his solemn meeting
Calmly say "Thy will be done."
