Arlo Moore, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Moore of Protection, was born in Protection on August 12, 189_. He lived in Protection, growing to young manhood here and working in this city, a great while for the Post and receiving his education in the Protection schools, until he went to work as telegrapher for the Santa Fe railway. He served the Santa Fe in the capacity of operator in numerous places, and on May 27, 1913, he was married to Miss Bertha Hale also of this city.On July 7, 1918, while living in Fullerton, California, Arlo enlisted in the service of his country in the signal service, and on the 20th of September sailed for France. On Oct. 12, his wife, who had returned to Protection after her husband had entered the service, received his over seas card stating that he had landed safely in France, and on the 20th of November she received the message stating that he had died on October 10, 1918 from the effects of pneumonia. He leaves to mourn his untimely departure, besides his young widow and his parents, three brothers, Eugene Homer, John Wayne and Kirby Wallace. Also his aged grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor and Mrs. Belle Moore, survive him.
He gave his life in service for others and his memory is sacred to his country, as well as to the loved ones whom he leaves.
