Christi A. Peterson

PROTECTION - Christi Ann (Maris) Peterson, 43, died Feb. 8, 2005, at her home, Protection.

She was born Nov. 20, 1961, at Ashland, the daughter of Marvin and Betty Jo (Fitzwater) Maris.

She was a lifetime resident of Protection. She attended Protection Grade School and graduated from Protection High School in 1980. She graduated from Dodge City Community College in 1982.

She belonged to Protection United Methodist Church and C.T.T.C. County Youth Rally Committee, and was involved in many community activities. She was manager of C-Plus for many years in both Protection and Coldwater, and was also a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant for Several years.

On April 18, 2004, she married Theron Peterson at Protection. He survives.

Other survivors include: her parents, Protection; a brother, Michael Maris, and wife Frankie of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Tammy Sanders and husband Mike, and Marva Jo Mosshart and husband Karl all of Protection; four nephews Michael and Samuel Mosshart and Jordan Sanders all of Protection, and Aaron Walker of St. Charles, Mo.; and a niece Chelsie Humble of Winfield and one great-niece, Tory Christine Humble of Winfield.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; one uncle, Bill Fitzwater; and two cousins, Shannon Phillips and Sheldon Hoffman.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Protection, with the Rev. Dennis Carter presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater. Burial will be in Protection Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the church or oncology department of Pratt Regional Medical Center, both in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, Kansas 67029-0417.
