Marion and Dale Taylor, sons of Matt Taylor and nephews of Oscar and Tom Taylor and of Mrs. Geo. W. Janson, Mrs. J. W. Carleton and Mrs. Earl Guizlo of this county, arrived in this city on Tuesday afternoon with the body of their brother, Wayne, whose death occurred in Harrison, Ark., on last Monday, March 1, 1920. The cause of his death was tuberculosis from which he had suffered for over six months. He had spent about seven weeks in a sanitarium in Booneville, Ark., and the day before his death his father went to Booneville and took him to the Taylor home in Harrison, where he died. The father was sick and unable to come to Coldwater for the funeral and burial services.Royal Wayne Taylor was born in St. John, Kans., on November 29, 1896, and at the time of his death was 23 years, 3 months and 1 day old. He came with his parents to this city in 1903, and had since made his home here most of the time.
In the fall of 1918 he went with many more Comanche-co. boys to become a part of Uncle Sam's army, but he did not get to go to France, having been kept at Camp Pike, Ark., most of the time until soon after signing of the armistice, when he received his discharge from the army. He was a member of the American Legion post at Harrison, Ark.
Wayne was of the type of young men who made friends wherever he went. He was honest and always considerate of the rights of others and never failed to do a kindness whenever it was in his power to do so. He will long be remembered here as a very thoughtful courteous and deserving young man. Before his death he expressed a desire to be a christian and asked for his bible and requested that he be buried in the cemetery here beside his mother and his sister, Mildred, who had preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian church in this city at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. A. G. Alexander. The death of this promising young man elicits the sincere sympathy of many friends here and wherever he was known.
Ferrel (Taylor) Guizlo, sister of Royal Wayne Taylor, wife of Charles Earl Guizlo.
Thomas Jefferson Taylor, brother of Royal Wayne Taylor.
