Thomas J. Taylor Dies in Los Angeles

Was a Resident of Comanche County Prior to Spring of 1935

Tom Taylor for many years a resident of Comanche county, passed away in the general hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., last Friday. The body was viewed in the slumber room in Fair Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, California, by relatives and friends before being returned to Coldwater for final rites.

Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church in this city at 3:30 Monday afternoon, June 4, and were in charge of Rev. Donald A. Kessler of the Methodist church. A male quartet composed of Rev. Noel Woods, Rod Baker, Marvin Belcher and Gene Dorsey of Wilmore sang "God Will Take Care of You" and "Rock of Ages," accompanied by Mrs. Lauren Ridge of Wilmore and Mrs. Frances Gregg of Coldwater.

The pallbearers were Clarence Masterson, Alvah York, Horace Rich, Clyde Heft, Victor Allderdice and Melvin Patterson. Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery by the side of his wife.

Obituary

Thomas Jefferson Taylor, son of James and Eliza Taylor was born in St. John, Kans., on March 11, 1886, and passed away in Los Angeles, Calif., June 1, 1951, at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 21 days.

At the age of 18 he moved with his father's family to Comanche county and on July 4, 1907, he was united in marriage with Miss Zenia Dickerson in Coldwater, Kans. To this union were born four children - Mrs. John R. Hilt of Coldwater, Kans., Archie Taylor of Modesto, Calif.; also Cecil and Clarence Taylor.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hilt, one son, Archie, eight grandchildren; four brothers - Roy Taylor of St. John, Kans., Oscar Taylor of Coldwater, Kans., Elmer Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla., and Marion Taylor of Jasper, Mo.; five sisters - Mrs. Ida Watts of Campe Verde, Arizona, Mrs. Anna Carleton and Mrs. Ferrel Guizlo of Coldwater, Kans., Mrs. Velma Sheldon of Osawatomie, Kans., and Mrs. Wilma Campbell of Merriam, Kans.; also his stepmother, Mrs. Emma Taylor of Jacksonville, Fla., and by a host of friends.

Preceding him in death were two sons, Cecil and Clarence, his wife, one sister, Mrs. Millie Janson, and two brothers, Matt and Will Taylor.

In 1935 Mr. Taylor moved from Comanche county to Los Angeles, Calif., where he resided until his death. He had been in failing health for the past six months but although his suffering was intense at times, he endured it with outstanding patience and no complaint. Sometime before his death Tom requested prayer and gave his heart to the Lord.
