Jessie Belcher died early Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 1990, in the Pratt Regional Medical center after a short hospitalization.Jessie Flo Dotson was born March 13, 1908 at Protem, Mo., the only daughter of S. W. and Sally Dotson. She had four brothers, Joe, Virgil, Raymond and Rudolph.
She graduated from Haskell High School in Haskell, Okla., and Northeastern University in Tahlequah, Okla.
She taught several years in Oklahoma and Missouri and came to Wilmore in 1942 as a home economics teacher. Her teaching career included elementary as well as high school teaching.
On June 14, 1947 she retired from teaching and married Marvin Belcher. She was a member of the Wilmore Federated Church and a former member of Wilmore Bible Study Club.
Jessie is survived by her husband, Marvin; two daughters, Marjorie Cowman of Texarkana, Ark., and Marie McKittrick of Sioux Falls, S. D.; two brothers, Raymond Dotson of Muskogee, Okla., and Rudolph Dotson of Haskell, Okla.
Surviving are six grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father at age 65 and her mother at the age of 103, brothers, Joe and Virgil Dotson; a daughter, Glenna Belcher Hannah.
She lived on the farm southeast of Wilmore until 1989 when she and Marvin moved to Coldwater.
She gave much love and support to her family and friends and was cherished by all who knew her.
Jessie was a special lady with faith in the Lord, a love of nature and enjoyed sharing her talents with others.
Jessie Flo (Dotson) Belcher is buried in the Wilmore Cemetery.
