Marvin Mason Belcher

Funeral will be Saturday morning at Wilmore for Marvin Mason Belcher. He died on Monday, August 22, 1994, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater. Mr. Belcher lived to the age of 89 years.

He was born in Harper County, Oklahoma, on January 29, 1905, and was the son of Charles and Esta Beard Belcher. He was a graduate of Protection High School.

A Coldwater area resident since 1923, moving from Harper County, Oklahoma, he was a retired farmer and stockman.

He was a member of the Wilmore Methodist Church, and was the First District commissioner for Comanche County from January of 1967 through January of 1979.

On April 8, 1928, he married Nora Gaylord. She died April 13, 1944. On June 14, 1947, he married Jessie Dotson at Caldwell. She died October 20, 1990.

His survivors include two daughters, Marjorie Cowman of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Marie McKittrick of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two sisters, Ruth Denney of Coldwater and Zelma Jessup of Santa Barbara, California; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Wilmore Federated Church, with the Rev. Kelvin Heitmann presiding. Burial will be in the Wilmore Cemetery. Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home of Coldwater is in charge of arrangements.

Family and friends will gather to share memories of Marvin from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The family invites all friends to come and share stories about Marvin with them.

Memorials may be sent to the Comanche County Hospital or to Pioneer Lodge Nursing Home in Coldwater, both in care of the funeral home.

GAYLORD - BELCHER

Miss Nora N. Gaylord, daughter of Murry Gaylord of Protection, Kan., was united in marriage to Mr. Marvin M. Belcher, son of Mrs. M. Jordan of Wilmore, Kan., Sunday morning, April 8, 1928, at Protection. Rev. Dellinger, pastor of the M. E. church at Protection, officiated with the ring ceremony. Immediately after the wedding the newlyweds went to the home of the groom at Wilmore and then motored to visit friends and relatives for some time.
