Mrs. Lillie May Booth passed away in the Comanche County Hospital on Wednesday, December 8, 1971.Funeral services were held at the Hatfield Funeral Home in Coldwater, Kans., on Saturday, December 11, 1971, at 2 p.m. with Jess Vandeman and Rev. Aljoe Watters in charge of the services.
Mrs. Denton Frazier and Mrs. Lee Roy Cline sang "Saved by Grace" and "Goodnight and Good Morning" accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Frances Ridge.
Pallbearers were John Booth, Charles Booth, Ivan Booth, Curtis Swayze, Glenn Bramlett and Donald Booth.
Interment was in Wilmore cemetery.
Obituary Lillie May Kluttz was born near Springfield, Mo., May 3, 1884 and departed this life December 8, 1971 in the Comanche County Hospital. She was the oldest daughter of M. A. and Frances Kluttz. Her mother died when she was 16 years of age. Her father and brother, Lewis Kluttz, and sisters, Alice, Laura and Bertha came to Kansas in 1900. They settled near Lake City.
In 1902 March 19 she united in marriage with William Baird Booth at Hazelton, Kans. They lived near Belvidere and worked for the Rockefeller Ranch for a few years later moving to a farm near Wilmore where they spent their entire life.
To this union were born five children: Hazel, Mrs. Charley Lawler, Thorp, Wash.; Bertha, Mrs. Valtos Richardson, Wilmore; Harold, Wilmore; Naomi, Mrs. Jesse Vardaman of Wichita; Fred Booth of Wilmore.
Mrs. Lawler died in 1971 and Harold was killed in an automobile accident in 1928, Mr. Booth died in 1957.
Mrs. Booth was a charter member of the Wilmore Baptist church, the Comanche County Hospital Auxiliary, Sunflower Farm Bureau club and Good neighbor club. She loved to read good books and to make quilts.
She leaves to mourn her loss three children, Bertha, Naomi, and Fred, six grandchildren, Dorothy Lawler Anderson, Seattle, Wash.; Charlotte Richardson Shelden, Wichita; Bill Vardaman, Ft. Worth, Texas; Stanton Booth Richardson, Akron, Ohio; Larry Vardaman, Wichita; Cecil Richardson of Hays, eight great grandchildren, David and Craig Anderson, Vicky, Jennifer and Bill Vandaman, Stan Lee and Stacey Shelden, and Stan ___ger Richardson; three sisters, Mrs. Albert Oller and Mrs. Pete Cole, Coldwater and Mrs. Tom Preston of Marana, Ariz.; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. Christina Griffin; Mrs. Hattie Wood, Mrs. Effie Booth of Wilmore and Mrs. John Wright of Belvidere, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The life of Mrs. Booth was built around her family, church and friends. Her interest in people and events of the world kept her alert to the needs of the day.
