James A. Dillinger was born July 7, 1853, at Aberdeen, Ohio. All of his life, until 1902, he spent in the vicinity of his birth place, in Ohio and Kentucky. The year 1903-04 was spent with his brother, Martin Dillinger in Trade, Tenn. He returned to Ohio and remained there until 1911. During these years he gave his time to tobacco farming. In the year 1911 he moved to the Wilmore community where he has resided ever since. Since coming to Kansas, he lived with his brother, the late Martin Dillinger, with whom he farmed as long as health permitted. Mr. Dillinger was a man of exceptionally retiring disposition and seldom took part in public affairs. Few people knew him intimately, but those who did found him a man and a friend of upright character and splendid worth. For many years, Mr. Dillinger has suffered more or less acutely from heart trouble and it was this ailment which caused his death, August 16, 1927, at his home near Wilmore, at the age of seventy four years, one month and nine days. He leaves to mourn their loss two brothers, William and David of Ohio, one sister, Mrs. Belle Atkinson, of Mimbres, N. M., and his sister-in-law and family, Mrs. Esther Dillinger, with whom he made his home and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at three o'clock with pastor T. F. Sowers officiating. Interment was made in the Wilmore cemetery.
