JACK A. GRACE PASSES

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon, February 22, 1947, at 2 o'clock at the Grace home for Mr. Jack A. Grace who passed away Thursday morning, February 20th in the hospital in Ashland. Mr. Grace had been in failing health for about a year as a result of a heart ailment but he continued his work on the state highway until a few days before his death. Mr. Grace was a kind husband and father and a friend to all. He will be greatly missed by his many friends.

Rev. Marvin E. Penick had charge of the funeral services. A solo, "God Understands," was sung by Delmar Horner. There were many beautiful floral offerings. Graveside services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Thomas. Pallbearers were Myrl Dellinger, F. H. Moberley, C. O. Masterson, O. D. McCorkle, J. H. Pendergraft, and Ernest Hubbard. Interment was in the Wilmore cemetery.

Obituary

Jack A. Grace, son of John and Dora Grace, was born in Chicago, Ill., April 1, 1890, and departed this life February 20, 1947, at the Burket hospital in Ashland, Kansas.

He was left an orphan at an early age and spent most of his boyhood days on ranches in Montana and the Dakotas. He came to Kansas about 1915 and worked on a ranch in the south part of Comanche County.

On May 31, 1917, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Alice McIntire, and they have resided in Wilmore since that time. To this union was born two children: Jack L. of Wilmore, and Mrs. Ardis White, now of Rhode Island.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Alice, son, Jack L. and daughter, Ethel Ardis; a step daughter, Mrs. Audrey Hall of Minneola, Kansas, and three grandchildren, Elston and Myrna Hall and Jan Grace.

He has been maintenance man on the State Highway for the past eight years and, although he had been in failing health since last April, he stayed at his post until a few days before his death.

Jack was a faithful employee and a man devoted to his family. He was a special favorite with the grandchildren.
