OLLIE NORA HACKNEY

Comanche County's oldest living native died on Thursday, January 19, 1995.

Death came to Ollie Nora Hackney at age 99. She would have reached her 100th birthday just one month after her death.

Mrs. Hackney died at the Pioneer Lodge Nursing Home in Coldwater. She was born February 19, 1895, in Avilla Township near Coldwater. Her parents were Edward and Ella Newton Deewall.

She was a lifetime resident of the county, and was a homemaker. Ollie was a member of the Antioch Methodist Church at Buttermilk; the New Eden Home Demonstration Unit; Sunnyside HDU: WSCS: Quilters Club; Sit 'n Sip Coffee Club; J. U. S. Club, and the Comanche County Hospital Auxiliary.

She married William Robert Hackney at Coldwater on October 24, 1915. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1978.

Survivors include a son, Robert Dean of Coldwater; two daughters, Audra Pauline Pepperd of Coldwater and Norene Williams of Greenburg; 13 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday afternoon, January 23, at the Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, with the Rev. Kelvin Heitmann officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery at Coldwater.

Memorials may be sent to the Comanche County Medical Foundation, both in care of the funeral home.
