A. H. (Ollie) Hecht, who had not been in good health for several years, passed away in the Comanche County Hospital Thursday of last week at 9:00 p.m., the result of flu and complications. He had been taken to the hospital that morning.Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church in Coldwater at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, and were in charge of the pastor, Rev. Carl A. Grondorf.
Mrs. Frank Weber sang, "Rock of Ages" and "In the Garden," accompanied by Donald G. Booth, organist. Pallbearers were Clyde Bibb, Keith Tucker, Homer Hartwell, Bob Gilchrist, Leonard Hadley and Milton Nokes. Interment was in Crown Hill cemetery near this city.
Obituary. Alvin Herman Hecht was born near Seneca, Kans., on December 11, 1887, and passed away December 24, 1959, in Coldwater, Kans., at the age of 72 years and 13 days.
He moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Hecht, to Athol, Kans., when he was 12 years of age. There he grew to young manhood.
He was confirmed in the German Lutheran church and united with the Presbyterian church in Coldwater in March, 1915, when Rev. J. P. Halsell was pastor.
In 1908 he came to Coldwater and was united in marriage with Hulda K. Berg on May 12, 1914. To this union were born five children: Four sons, Victor of Haysville, Kans.; Clifford of Coldwater; Gall of Wichita, Kans., and Alvin of Jacksonville, Fla.; and one daughter, LaVera Harrell of Wichita.
He is also survived by four brothers: Dave of Sterling, Colo.; Ernest of Coldwater; Richard of Hermiston, Ore.; and Marvin of Clovis, New Mexico; and two sisters, Amanda Simmonds of Hill City, Kans.; and Sophia Waggoner of Clovis, New Mexico; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. His wife, parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. He leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Mr. Hecht was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and his gallant struggle for life and great will to do for others endeared him to all who knew him.
