Thelma Kittell

Thelma Kittell, 82, died Nov. 8, 1997 at her daughter's home in Albuquerque, N. M.

She was born Jan. 14, 1915, at Wilmore to Ora Henry McCorkle and Blanche (Killillay) McCorkle.

A lifetime resident of Comanche County, she was co-owner of the Coldwater Laundry and worked as a health care provider for people in their homes and at Pioneer Lodge Nursing Home in Coldwater.

She was a 1933 graduate of Wilmore High School, a member of the First Christian Church and a charter member of the Flower and Garden Club, both of Coldwater.

On June 1, 1933, she married John B. Kittell at Alva, Okla. He died Feb. 28, 1986.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ruth Kittell, who died in 1935, and four brothers, Ancil, Richard, Robert and Ivan McCorkle.

Survivors include one son, Don Kittell of Coldwater, one daughter, Barbara Stewart of Albuquerque, N. M.; three sisters, Ruth Morris of Coldwater, Roberta Teter of Protection and Chloe Hitz of Dodge City, three grandchildren, John B. Kittell II of Grimes, Iowa, Julee Amador of Rio Rancho, N. M. and Christine Hansen of Fremont, Calif., and two great grandchildren, Zachery and Trenton Hansen.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997 at First Christian Church in Coldwater with Rev. Jack Wingate presiding. Interment is at the Wilmore cemetery, Wilmore.

Memorials may be sent to the Wilmore Community Center, Wilmore, or Chief Theater, Coldwater, in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Box 417, Coldwater, Kansas. 67029.
