Death Comes to O. H. McCorkle

Funeral Services Tuesday In Wilmore Methodist Church

O. H. McCorkle, who had been a resident of Wilmore nearly 43 years, passed away at 1:20 p.m. last Saturday in Coldwater after a lingering illness. His death was due to a cancerous condition.

Funeral services were held in the Wilmore Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon and were in charge of a former pastor, Rev. W. J. Thomas, now of Isabel, Kans.

Miss Joan Bigbee and Mrs. Norma Johnson sang "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" and "God Will Take Care of You" and Rev. Thomas sang "Good Night and Good Morning," accompanied by Mrs. Austin Cobb, pianist.

The active pallbearers were Marvin Downing, C. V. Lott, C. O. Masterson, George Kennedy, Lawrence York Sr. and Ernest Ferrin. The honorary pallbearers were Josh Pendergraft, Lester Larimer, Earl Ferrin, Ernest Hubbard, T. C. Pepperd, Perry Wall, L. E. Baker and Carl Snyder. Burial was in the Wilmore cemetery.

Obituary.

Ora Henry McCorkle, son of George and Sarah Jane McCorkle, was born in Shambough, Iowa, March 16, 1854, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Kittell, in Coldwater, Kans., June 17, 1950, at the age of 66 years, 3 months and 1 day.

"Ode," as he was known, spent his younger life in Iowa. In July, 1907, he was united in marriage with Blanche Elizabeth Killilay and they immediately moved to Wilmore, Kans., where they resided on a farm for two years before moving to town, where he became a blacksmith. He retired in 1945.

He leaves to mourn his passing three sons: Ivan E. of Compton, Calif., Richard of Washington, D. C., Robert of Pratt, Kans., four daughters: Mrs. Chloe Hennigh of Englewood, Mrs. John Kittell of Coldwater, Mrs. Billy Morris of Lake City and Mrs. Gerald Teter of Protection; also two brothers: John of Baxter Springs, Kans., Enoch of Pittsburg, Kans., and one sister, Mrs. Ella Thompson, of Doland, South Dakota, by 15 grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends. His wife and one son, Ancil, preceded him in death.

Mr. McCorkle joined the Masonic Order in August, 1917, and has been an active member since. He entered into the fellowship of the Methodist church in Wilmore on May 22, 1926, and has been a member ever since.

Mr. McCorkle was loved by all and was ever ready to help wherever help was needed. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
