Eliza Emaline "Lyda" Moore, 83, died Tuesday morning in the Comanche County Hospital where she had been a patient two weeks.Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Protection Christian Church with Delmar Burgess, pastor, officiating.
The Mennonite Quartet sang "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," "In the Garden" and "Beyond the Sunset." Organist was Mrs. Glenn Maris.
Active pallbearers were Charles Petty, Sam Wheeler, Orville Thornhill, Jerry Miller, Milo Edmonston and Bill Schultz. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Edmonston, Grover Ellison, Claude Rowland, Atlee Edmonston, Herman Herbord, Clayton Williams, Clay Woolfolk and Edgar Deck.
Interment was in the Protection cemetery, Hatfield Mortuary, Coldwater, was in charge of arrangements.
Obituary
Eliza Emaline Towner Moore, daughter of William H. Towner and Margaret Smith Towner, was born May 30, 1879 in Waverly, Ohio and departed this life in the Comanche County Hospital, Coldwater, Kans., Friday, February 26, 1963 at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 27 days.
At the age of five years, she moved with her family from Ohio to Lexington, Kans., where she grew to womanhood and finished her education in Protection, Kans.
Eliza or Lyda as she was better known, married Clyde S. Moore of Wellington, Kans., in August, 1902. They lived at Wellington until 1908 then moved to Protection where she resided until her death. Her husband preceded her in death in 1942.
She is survived by one son, Duane Moore of Kellogg, Idaho; three grandchildren Mrs. Francis Maas of Bucklin, Kans., Donald Duane Moore of Saratoga, Wyo., and Patricia McCleary of Seymour, Mo.; and three great grandchildren, Merlyn Lyle, Verlin Gene and Darwood Edson Maas of Bucklin, Kans. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Sallie McFarland, a daughter-in-law, Marguerite Moore, both of Protection; and many cousins, nieces and nephews along with a host of friends who will mourn her departure.
Mrs. Moore was a charter member of the First Christian Church of Protection. She was faithful to her church until her death.
