Funeral service for Frank Moore, Sr., was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 21, in the Methodist Church at Moreland, Okla., with Rev. Charles Richardson, officiating. Burial was made in Protection cemetery, Protection, Kans., with Masonic graveside rites by Protection Lodge No. 384. Arrangements were under the direction of Stretcher Mortuary.Mr. Moore died January 19 in the Memorial Hospital, Woodward, Oklahoma following a short illness.
Edgar Francis Moore, son of John and Belle Moore, was born June 10, 1882 in Sumner County, Kansas. At the age of three, he moved with his parents to Protection, Kansas. It was on the family homestead at the southwest edge of Protection that he grew to manhood. He was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge of Protection, Kansas.
In 1903, he was joined in marriage to Nellie May Reed. To this union was born three sons, Lynn, Reed and Wallace.
In 1914, he moved with his family by covered wagon from Protection to Grand Junction, Colo. They returned to Protection about one year later. A year later he moved to a ranch south of Sitka, Kans.
In 1919 he was joined in marriage to Meta Fugate. To this union was born a son, Frank, Jr., and a daughter, Virginia Louise, Meta ("Floss", as she was known) preceded him in death.
Frank lived south of Sitka until about 1926. He lived for a brief time in Sitka and Protection. He then moved to a ranch south of Ashland, Kans., where he lived until 1941. In 1941 he moved to his ranch north of Quinlan where he continued to reside and operate the ranch until his death.
Survivors include four sons, Lynn, Winfield, Kans.; Reed, Augusta, Kans.; Wallace, Craig, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Bullard, Dallas, Texas, and 10 grandchildren.
