Mrs. Robert Norton, 54, died at 9:55 p.m., Sunday, November 24, 1963 at the Comanche County Hospital. Mrs. Norton had been a patient in the hospital several weeks suffering with a heart condition. Death came when a blood clot reached her heart.Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, in the Christian Church, Protection. Rev. Sanford Oyer officiated at the service, assisted by Rev. Leslie Peterson of Wilmore.
The Mennonite Quartet sang "Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus" and "Good Night and Good Morning." Mrs. Glenn Maris was organist.
Pallbearers were Atlee Edmonston, Chester Baker, Charles Goos, Gary Moore, Ted Prilliman, and Rea Morton. Honorary pallbearers were Lewis Hopkins, Dan Shattuck, Glen Hosier, Charles Wilkerson, Clarence Condra and Harold Miller.
Interment was in the Protection Cemetery. Hatfield Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Obituary Mrs. Gladys Norton, daughter of Carl and Lydia Grauberger was born near Okeene, Oklahoma, July 26, 1909.
She passed away November 24, 1963 at the age of 54 years, 4 months and 26 days, in the Comanche County Hospital.
She was united in marriage to Robert Norton at Watonga, Okla., April 23, 1928. To this union were born 4 children.
She grew up near Okeene, Okla. and lived there until they moved to Protection in 1943 where she spent the remaining years of her life.
She accepted Christ as her Savior and was converted in 1946 and was a faithful member in the Church of God.
She was preceded in death by a sister, brother, and a son, William Robert Norton. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Wendel Ferrin of Wilmore, Kans., and Mrs. E. L. Ashlock of Ashland, Kans., one son, Donald Norton of Lincoln, Nebr., and 10 grandchildren; her father, Carl Grauberger, Okeene, Okla., four sisters, Mrs. Alva Lee and Mrs. Lyman Lee of Colton, Calif., Mrs. Reuben Weber of Southard, Okla., and Mrs. Harry Meir of Fairview, Okla., two brothers; Leroy Grauberger of Enid, Okla., and Carl Grauberger of Seattle, Wash.
She was a wonderful wife and mother. Her grandchildren were one of her greatest joys. She spent her life giving to others and asking little in return.
