The list of Civil war veterans who reside in Protection and vicinity are:

G. C. Toland,
A. S. Livingston,
John Taylor,
John Hullett,
D. B. Denney,
W. J. Lindsey,
Rod Cameron,
Sam'l Stitt
and J. L. Mahaffey.

Geo. G. Johnson, Wm. Mitchell and Leonard Hemphill are the only Spanish-American war soldiers in the community.
