Flora Hixson was born at Goodhope, Ohio, on August 6, 1856. She was the daughter of Wm. and Ellen Hixson. She departed this life February 11, 1934, her age being 77 years, six months and five days.

On October 7, 1878, at Prairie City, Iowa, she was united in marriage with Peter Schneider. To this union four daughters were born, all of whom survive her. They are: Mrs. Alberta McCollum of Kansas City, Kan.; Mrs. Sadie Hubbard of Wilmore, Kan.; Mrs. Pearl Powell of Aurora, Mo., and Miss Erma Schneider of Dodge City, Kan. She leaves to mourn their loss the four daughters, her husband, one sister, Mrs. Sadie Harvey of Teepee, Sask., Canada, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren, besides a host of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Schneider moved from Iowa to Cowley County, Kansas, in 1882, and lived there until the spring of 1885, when they came to Comanche County, where they have since made their home. On February 16, 1901, Mrs. Schneider united with the Presbyterian Church here, and has since been a loyal member.

Mother Schneider, as she was known to so many of her friends, was a good wife, a loving mother and a kind friend. She was very sympathetic to those in trouble, was energetic, even in her later years, and was never too tired to be of help to others.

She had been in failing health for some time, but her last illness was of very short duration. God, in His loving kindness spared her much suffering. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones, but we bow to the will of a loving heavenly father.
