Funeral services were held for Mrs. Eulah B. Trummel of Wilmore, Kans., on Friday at 2:30 p.m. on August 25, 1978 at the Federated church in Wilmore, Kans., with Rev. Gib Clark assisted by Rev. William McFall, ministers. Organist, Mrs. Ernestine Zeigler accompanied soloist Gene Dorsey as he sang "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "How Great Thou Art."Pallbearers were Clark Yost, Mike Snyder, Mike Unruh, Lester Fry, Jr., Chuck Metzger, and Rodney Brown.
Honorary pallbearers were Lester Booth, Charles Booth, Fred Booth, Rod Baker, Fay Smith, Valtos Richardson, Homer Ring, and John Unruh.
Interment was in Wilmore Cemetery, Wilmore, Kans.
Obituary Eulah Booth (Wood) Trummel, born November 25, 1907, in the sod house of her parents, Samuel and Christine Wood, died in Wichita, Kans., on August 22, 1978. She was 70 years old.
Eulah, who liked to be called "Johnny", was a lifelong resident of the Wilmore area except for a period of 14 years when she, her husband and family lived in Wichita. She attended the rural Booth school in Kiowa county through the 7th grade and then entered the Wilmore high school where she graduated in 1925. After graduation she attended college at Hays and Phillips University at Enid for a short time. For several years Eulah taught in country schools in Kiowa and Comanche counties. She often recounted her adventures in traveling over the prairie roads in her Model T to reach her county classrooms. Later, she worked as a clerk at
C. E. Richardson's general store in Wilmore. Eulah's occupation most of her life, however, was that of housewife and mother. She was a member of the Wilmore Christian church, later the Wilmore Federated church and, while in Wichita, the Westside Christian church.Eulah and Lester Trummel were married at Colby, Kans., on July 25, 1930. Six sons were born to the marriage. One son, Russell, preceded her in death as did her husband, Lester, and both of her parents.
Left to remember her are her sons, Gary, Greensburg, Kans., Richard, Jim, and Sam of Wichita, and Don of Dayton, Ohio. Her daughters-in-law, Jane, Vi, Heidi and Connie, her eight grandchildren. Her sisters, Helen Pendergraft and husband, Charles; Ruth Baker and husband, Ed; all of Wilmore and her brother, Richard Wood and wife, June, San Diego, Calif. Two aunts, Isabelle Wright and husband, John, Belvidere; and Hattie Wood and husband, Harold, Wilmore. Also left to remember her are many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Eulah's life was anchored in service to her family and friends. She was known by everyone for her neighborliness and concern for others and her willingness to help those in need. While her loss will be deeply felt by those who remain, it will be tempered by the knowledge that she has now been reunited in death with those loved ones separated from in life.
I DO NOT GO ALONE If death should beckon me with outstretched hand
And whisper softly of "An Unknown Land."
I shall not be afraid to go,
For though the path I do not know,
I take Death's Hand without a fear
For He who safely brought me here
Will also take me safely back
And though in many things I lack
He will not let me go alone
Into the "Valley That's Unknown."
So I reach out and take Death's hand
And journey to the "Promised Land."
