The Wilmore News, April 13, 1928.

OBITUARY - MRS. W. N. WATERS

Miss Rosa M. Meats, was born at LeRoy, Coffey county, Kan., Sept., 3, 1872. Her entire childhood and young womanhood days were spent in that community. At an early age, she became a christian and united with the local Methodist Episcopal church of her community.

Her early education was obtained in the local district and high school, graduating from LeRoy high school in 1892. The year 1892-1893 she spent at the state teachers' college in Emporia, Kansas.

For several years after her course in the normal school, Miss Meats was engaged in the dress making business and other forms of domestic activities. In the year 1904, she came to Kingman county, Kansas where she continued her chosen career for a short time. While in this community she met him with whom she was to share the remainder of her life and on March 7, 1906, she was united in marriage to Mr. W. N. Waters of the same community.

For nearly four years, Mr. and Mrs. Waters resided in Kingman county, engaged in agricultural suits. A daughter, Wilma, was born to them while there. In March of the year 1910, they moved to their present home in Kiowa county, with their post office at Wilmore, Kansas. The year of their moving 1910, a son, Donald was born to them.

The remainder of her life was spent in active service in and around her home. In addition to her church affiliations she was a member of Grace Chapter No. 394, Order of the Eastern Star, Wilmore, Kan. She was a faithful wife, a devoted mother and a neighborly neighbor.

Naturally an unusually strong, active person, it came as a great shock to the entire community, the announcement of her sudden death of heart failure on Friday, April 6, 1928, at her home. Prior to her death, Mrs. Waters had been suffering from a somewhat severe attack of the lagrippe but her condition was not considered serious. Death claimed her while she was still sitting at the dinner table.

She leaves to mourn her going her husband, Mr. Wm. N. Waters, two children, Wilma and Donald, and a stepson, Harvey Waters, of this community; one sister, Mrs. Bessie E. Cannon of Kingman county, four brothers, A. A. , W. D. and W. J. Meats of LeRoy, Kan., and E. F. Meats of Neosho Falls, Kan., and a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors.

FUNERAL OF MRS. W. N. WATERS

Funeral services for Mrs. W. N. Waters, who died suddenly at her home in the south part of Kiowa county last Friday, were held at the local Baptist church, Tuesday, at 3 p.m. The Rev. Sowers being in charge. A beautiful tribute was paid to the memory of Mrs. Waters by Rev. John K. Yeoman of Wichita, who has been a life long friend. The many beautiful floral offerings bespoke the affection of her many Wilmore friends. The church would not accommodate the vast number who came to pay their last tribute to Mrs. Waters. She leaves a place vacant in home and community which can not be filled. She was noted for her willingness and ability to help a neighbor when sickness or death entered their home. The entire community extends sympathy to the bereaved family for their loss of a loving wife and mother.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Claude Cannon and daughter, Leota, of Kingman, Kan.; A. A. Meats and son, Sheldon, of LeRoy, Kan.; Mrs. H. C. Durant of St. John, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Durant of Stafford, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Jones of Van Buren, Ark.; Rev. John K. Yeoman and wife and F. N. McCurtain of Wichita, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Yeoman and Mrs. Jennie Gurtner of Kingman, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Burkenbaugh, Mrs. Maude Morgan and Miss Mamie Ridge of Basil, Kan.; Miss Lillie Ridge of Arkansas City, Kan.; and Mr. and Mrs. B.
