W. N. Waters was fatally injured Wednesday about 5:30 p.m. when a horse he was riding fell with him at his farm northwest of Wilmore. Mr. Waters had mounted the horse to round up some cattle.
It seems that as he was about to go through a gate about a block east of the house that the horse began to run very rapidly. As it was passing through the gate its feet caught in the wire gate which was lying on the ground. The horse fell throwing Mr. Waters over its head. His daughter, Wilma saw the accident and when her father did not arise after the fall, she rushed out to aid him. Finding him unconscious she returned to the house and summoned aid. Several of the nearby neighbors responded and carried Mr. Waters to the house. Dr. Holcomb was summoned from Coldwater but was unable to do anything to review the injured man, and he passed away about eleven o'clock without regaining consciousness. A fracture of the skull at the base of the brain was given as the cause of his death.
The relatives of the deceased were called at once, his mother from Rudy, Arkansas, a son, Harvey, from St. John, a brother, Charles from Sharon, Kansas. Funeral arrangements will not be completed until these relatives arrive.

William Newton Waters, the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Waters, was born Jan. 22, 1874, near Van Buren, Arkansas, and died at his home near Wilmore, Kansas, March 12, 1930, at the age of 56 years, 1 months and 18 days.
He was united with the Baptist church in early life. He was a member of the Wilmore Baptist church.
He was united in marriage to Miss Henrietta Phillips in May, 1894. To this union one child, Harvey, was born.
Mr. Waters worked for the government a few years, helping to survey southern Oklahoma, then came to Kansas, and lived near Kingman for several years. Here he met Miss Rosa Meats and they were united in marriage March 7, 1906. To this union two children were born, Wilma and Donald.
They came to Wilmore in March, 1910, and for the past twenty years have been residents of this community. Mrs. Waters died suddenly April 6, 1928.
Mr. Waters was a good citizen and neighbor and well liked by all who knew him. He was an industrious farmer and in his business dealings was fair and honest.
Mr. Waters was a member of Wichita Consistory No. 2; Wilmore lodge No. 412, A. F. & A. M.; O. E. S. No. 394; and the Modern Woodmen.
He leaves to mourn besides his three children, his aged mother, two sisters, Mrs. Georgia Durant, St. John and Mrs. Anna Watkins of Rudy, Arkansas, two brothers, John of Van Buren, Arkansas, and Charles of Sharon, Kansas.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church. Rev. John Yeoman, pastor of the Woodland M. E. church of Wichita, an old friend of Mr. and Mrs. Waters had charge of the services,
Rev. Woods , the local pastor assisting. Music was furnished by a quartet consisting of Mrs. Lawrence York, Mrs. Perry Wall, Lew Baker and Ray Bigbee. The floral offerings were beautiful and numerous. Pall bearers were John Bell, A. H. Lawry, R. O. Nevens, C. E. Richardson, J. W. Anderson and T. J. Foree.Interment was in the Wilmore cemetery. The services at the cemetery were in charge of Wilmore Lodge No. 412, A. F. & A. M.
The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.
