Mrs. H. S. Waugh, who had been in ill health during the past two years, passed away at 5:30 a.m. last Sunday morning at her home in this city. Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday of this week. Rev. Geo H. DeBoer, pastor of the Presbyterian church in this city, read from the Scripture and offered prayer and Rev. Major W. Parker, pastor of the Methodist church, brought a comforting message. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Leo Wilkins, Mrs. J. W. Brewer, Marvin Plank and B. H. Hewett sang "Rock of Ages," "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Abide With Me." There were many floral offerings.Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery near this city by the side of her husband, who passed away May 3, 1926. The pallbearers were: Walter Thompson, C. E. Alderdice, Harvey and George Thompson, T. C. Mahan and C. E. Demuth.
Obituary Louella Mitchell, eldest daughter of Albert and Susan Caroline Mitchell, was born in Wishart, Mo., September 26, 1866, and departed this life on February 15, 1942, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 20 days after an illness of several years.
On June 20, 1886, Mrs. Waugh was united in marriage with Henry Segle Waugh of Pueblo, Colo. To this union nine children were born, six of whom survive, namely: Walter G. Waugh of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. R. T. Burt of Wichita, Kans., Mrs. E. L. Franklin of Hamilton, Mo., Mrs. L. L. Helvie of Grand Junction, Colo., Mrs. C. W. Burt of Coldwater and Elizabeth of the home.
Other survivors are seven brothers and two sisters, namely: Charles Mitchell of Wishart, Mo., J. W. Mitchell of Bolivar, Mo., A. C. Mitchell of Pueblo, Colo., James and E. C. Mitchell and Mrs. Emmett Ball of Lamar, Colo., A. G. Mitchell of Wishart, Mo., Mrs. Martha Brim of Fairland, Okla., and G. W. Mitchell of Winfield, Kans.; also 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mrs. Waugh in death were her parents, one sister and four brothers - Mrs. Sally Dickson, L. D. Mitchell, S. S. Mitchell, Will Mitchell and Nimrod, who died in infancy; also her husband and three daughters, the eldest daughter at the age of three and twin daughters in infancy.
Early in life Mrs. Waugh united with the Mitchell Chapel Methodist church of Wishart, Mo., and she lived her Christian life every day. She was a kind and devoted mother who will be greatly missed by her children and friends. She leaves a place that never can be filled.
Note: in his own obituary, Henry Waugh's middle name is spelled "Segel", not "Segle", and his wife's name is spelled "Luella", not "Louella".
