Mrs. Hazel Marie Wilcox, 71, died Wednesday, December 1, 1976, at St. Catherine's hospital, Garden City.Born November 2, 1905 at Bartlesville, Okla., she was married to Edwin Stewart Crouse August 18, 1932 at Ashland. He died June 24, 1966 at Coldwater. She later married Ray Wilcox July 1, 1968 at Garden City.
She had been a Garden City resident since 1967, moving from Coldwater. She was a member of First Christian church, Coldwater; former county treasurer and superintendent of schools in Comanche county; and a member of the Kansas Teachers Association.
Survivors include widower and son, Charles E. Crouse, Anchorage, Alaska; daughter, Mrs. Mabel Marie Conn, Travis Air Force Base, Calif.; stepsons: Perry Wilcox, Independence, Mo.; Ron Wilcox, Littleton, Colo.; stepdaughters: Mrs. Charlotte Spikes, Mrs. Roberta Jones, both of Garden City; brother: Pat Thompson, Mesa, Ariz.; foster brothers, David Cary, Coldwater; Harland Cary, Eagle Pass, Texas; sisters: Mrs. Edith Walker, Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. Pauline Lewis, Mesa, Ariz.; foster sister, Mrs. Virginia White, Coldwater; 13 step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren.
Funeral was Saturday, December 4, 1976, at the church with Rev. Gib Clark. Burial was in the Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater.
