More Volunteers for the Army and Navy

A naval recruiting party came to this city on Thursday of last week and remained until Sunday. While here eight more volunteers for the navy were secured, all of whom started eastward Sunday morning. They were: Everett Masten, S. A. Tracy, John Bratcher, Dewey Bullock, Hueston Cline, Harry Clark, Wm. Little and Billy Talley.

The total number of naval recruits from Coldwater in now 12, which is a larger quota than has gone from any other town in this part of the state, population considered. Protection has sent four.

Word was received here during the week, however, that Harry Clark and Dewey Bullock were not accepted by the naval officers in Kansas City. Dewey and Harry returned to Coldwater on Tuesday.

The number who have volunteered to join the army has not been so large. So far, the number from this county and in the aviation corps is now about half a dozen. One of the latest to volunteer is Ray Swarner, who, on Monday went to Fort Riley, where he entered the officer's training camp.
