The funeral of Mrs. Harry Baker was held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the Baptist Church in Wilmore. The service was conducted by Rev. E. C. Wood who gave a comforting message.A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Glenn Jordan, Mrs. Arthur Barber, Nick Barber and Ray Bigbee sang three songs, "My Faith Looks Up to Thee," "Beautiful Valley of Eden" and "Now the Day Is Over."
Burial was made in the Wilmore cemetery.
Pall bearers were Godfrey Isenbart, C. O. Masterson, Sam Booth,
Earl Ferrin ,Ernest Ferrin and Ernest Hubbard.Many friends and relatives gathered to pay their last tribute.
Obituary. Lillie York was born Oct. 22, 1875, in Burnettsville, Indiana, and departed this life Feb. 11, 1944, at her girlhood home, following an illness of several months. Her age being 68 years, 3 months and 20 days.
At four years of age she came with her parents to Harper Co., Kans., living there for 15 years, moving to Comanche Co. with them in 1894.
On April 1, 1901 she was united in marriage to Harry P. Baker of this county. They soon moved to Sedgwick County, establishing their home at Colwich. For a period of about two years, during World War I, they returned to Wilmore where they were engaged in the restaurant business, In 1918 they moved to Benton, Co., Arkansas where they lived until a year ago. Mrs. Baker became a member of the Wilmore Baptist Church April 2, 1916.
She was a kind friend and a helpful neighbor, being highly respected in every community in which she lived, ready to do a good deed as long as her health permitted.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sisters and five brothers: Harry York of Dodge City, Frank and Truman of Ashland, Mrs. Perry Wall, Misses Maude and Stella, Lawrence and Alvah York of Wilmore.
Among the out-of-town people who attended funeral services for Mrs. Harry Baker Sunday were: Dr. and Mrs. Ireland of Coats, the Frank, Truman, John and Russell York families of Ashland, Mr. and Mrs. Harry York of Dodge City,
Mrs. J. M. McCay and daughter, Effie, and the Earl Martin and Pete Hucklebridge families of Coldwater.John Walter York, father of Lillie (York) Baker.
Melvina Figg (Dooley) York, mother of Lillie (York) Baker.
